Digital photo printing and photo sharing as easy as:

Photo Advice

Taking a digital photo should be easy… and it is! But just in case you’re struggling, here are a few, (non-technical – anyone can do it!) easy steps:

  1. Take lots of pictures
Remember you are not using film and can control which pictures to print. You decide, print them all or print none. Taking pictures is free – you only spend when you print, so take multiple pictures of the same scene. Zoom in, zoom out, try a different position – you can take time later to select the best ones when you’re home. If you don’t capture it you can’t keep it, print it or share it!

  2. Get in close
Don’t try and get everything you can see into the picture.
Capture the detail, get in close – this is especially good advice when taking pictures of people. Try taking just their face or head and shoulders, it’s often their expression that matters.

  3. Avoid badly lit scenes
Light is crucial for taking good pictures – ok, not all situations have great light, but remember this rule and you’ll get better results.

  4. Experiment
When you see a day with great light, grab your coat and get out there and take some pictures. It doesn’t matter of what – your daughter, dog or drive way good lighting can help create a really good photograph.

  5. Try a different angle
Crouch, lie down, stand on a chair – a different angle can help create a more interesting picture. Try it – you won’t feel so stupid when you see the results and your friends think the photographs were taken by a professional.

  6. Frame and check
Sounds obvious but frame the picture before pressing the button. And when you’ve taken the photograph, with digital you can immediately check and see if it was OK! Then take another and another until you get the picture you want.

  7. Take non-posed pictures
The professionals call it ‘reportage’, but try just snapping away at your family and friends when they’re not overly aware – that way they don’t feel self conscious and you’ll catch them looking natural. It can take practice – but it won’t cost you anything because you only print what you like!
